About ENT•UK

ENT•UK is the front name for the British Association of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head & Neck Surgeons (BAO-HNS), which was founded in 1943 as the professional Association for British Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons and related professionals.

The organisation was formed to promote the specialty at all levels, from regional to international level. It represented the interests of its members in areas of politics, finance and education.

The British Association of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head and Neck Surgeons is a registered charity, number 213352

Today ENT•UK represents over 1,200 medical practitioners including surgeons, trainees and audiologists. The main objectives of ENT•UK are to:

  • Improve the care available to patients suffering from conditions of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck
  • Promote the understanding of the range of conditions treated by the specialty
  • Provide information on the specialty to the general public and media
  • Encourage and support research within the specialty
  • Support and provide continuing education for specialists
  • Encourage recruitment into the specialty
  • Promote high standards in the training of specialists
  • Represent the specialty at the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and to government bodies.

In 2003 the Association celebrated its 60th anniversary. Read more in 'A Celebration of 60 Years' by Neil Weir (£5) Click here to buy a copy of this book.
