The Council of The Royal College of Surgeons of England invites applications for election to the office of Hunterian Professor; Arris and Gale Lecturer; and Arnott Lecturer. In order to be eligible for these awards applicants must have either the Fellowship or the Membership of this College, or the Fellowship/Membership of the College's Faculty of Dental Surgery.

Up to twelve Hunterian Lectures may be awarded. The Arris and Gale Lecture is on a subject relating to Human Anatomy and Physiology. The Arnott Lecture is on a subject relating to Anatomy.

Lectures will normally be delivered in the United Kingdom. Lectures may, exceptionally, be delivered outside the United Kingdom, subject to the approval of the Lectureships Selection Committee, and provided a Member of the Council of the College is present for the lecture.

Appointments to the Hunterian Professorships; the Arris & Gale Lectureship; and the Arnott Lectureship are made on the condition that those elected will give the College first refusal of publishing their lecture in the Annals. Copyright for publications will be retained by the College.

Submissions must be forwarded to the College. Candidates are requested to submit eight copies of the application form which can be downloaded from the RCS Website

Any other data submitted will not be considered. The information supplied will be circulated to referees and be available to members of the Lectureship Selection Committee. It will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
