WENTS UK Research Grants 2021-22
WENTS UK are in the fortunate position to offer a number of research grants thanks to the Shyamala- WENTS UK Grant.
Aims
These grants are offered to support WENTS UK members undertaking research on a theme of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion. It is expected that recipients will present their research at a WENTS UK annual conference and publish it in a peer-reviewed journal.
Amount
There are three grants available, each up to £500 in value. The amount awarded will be determined by the requirements of the research proposal and at the discretion of the adjudicators.
Eligibility
Application is open to WENTS UK members. The research must have direct relevance to the advancement of equality, diversity and inclusion in ENT. Applicants may be medical students, foundation, core or higher trainees, non-career grades or consultants in ENT. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have obtained the relevant research ethics approval, where indicated, including support from the hospital trust and/or other relevant authority.
Requirements
An outline proposal of no more than two single-sided A4 pages should be submitted to wents@entuk.org with the title Shyamala Grant.

- Objectives
- Methods
- Location(s) of research
- List of co-investigators and supervisors
- Detailed breakdown of costs
- Timeframe of research
- Likely output from research
Submissions should also include a standard two-page research CV for all investigators. Please prepare all documents as a single PDF file along with a cover letter including any previous engagement with ENT UK and WENTS UK.
Submission deadline
All applications must be submitted before midday 28th June 2021.
