About

The British Rhinological Society was created to promote education and research in all aspects of Rhinology - the study of the nose, sinuses and related areas including facial plastics. The Society provides a platform for those with an interest in Rhinology to help disseminate knowledge on the subject. The BRS provides a national umbrella to promote and support good clinical practice and advancements in the field of Rhinology. It holds an annual meeting to facilitate engagement, and provide education and professional development for its members.


The Event

The ENT UK BRS Annual Meeting and Juniors Day will be held face-to-face in the capital of Wales, Cardiff at the Parkgate Hotel, Westgate Street, Cardiff, CF10 1DA. 

This event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 8th, and Thursday, May 9th, 2024. This meeting has been scheduled one week earlier than usual to accommodate expert faculty who are passing through Cardiff as part of the RSM travelling professor scheme on 8th May 2024.

The event will be divided as follows:

  • 8 May, 12.30 pm - 5.35 pm - BRS Annual Meeting (first part)
  • 9 May, 8.30 am - 12.30 pm - BRS Annual Meeting (second part)
  • 9 May, 1.30 pm - 5.00 pm - BRS Juniors Day Meeting 

Programme

The BRS meeting is the most established national meeting covering both rhinology and nasal plastics. This year, Mr Sam Warburton, a Welsh rugby legend and the former captain of the British and Irish Lions, will be delivering the Storz Invitational Lecture. Various national and international faculty, including Professor Zara Patel from Stanford and Dr Arif Janjua from Vancouver, will present lectures on interesting research and clinical topics. The detailed programme can be found below.

The programme is excellent and far-ranging, featuring a host of engaging and educational presentations. The meeting will also provide the perfect opportunity to learn and network with peers, colleagues, and industry partners.

Registrations 

The BRS Annual Meeting and Juniors Day registrations for the face-to-face meeting are now closed.

The delegate ticket includes the tea/coffee/refreshments/ lunch on the 8th May and 9th May.

With this ticket, you will have access to the following:

  • BRS Annual Meeting (first part) - 8 May, 12.30 pm - 5.35 pm
  • BRS Annual Meeting (second part) - 9 May, 8.30 am - 12.30 pm 
  • BRS Juniors Day Meeting- 9 May, 1.30 pm - 5.00 pm

The Juniors Day Meeting is primarily intended for students and trainees, but delegates of other grades are welcome to attend as well. However, please keep in mind that the CPD points allocated for this part of the event will be granted only to students and trainees.

Please note that registrations for this meeting must be done before the deadline of 1st May 2024. On-site registrations will not be accepted.

Networking Evening - Dinner 

We have an exciting networking evening dinner planned at the Parkgate Hotel, Cardiff on 8th May following the first half of the Annual Meeting. The drinks reception will commence at 7:30 pm, followed by dinner at 8:00 pm and onwards. 
Please select the Networking Evening Dinner ticket separately in addition to your event ticket before finalising the registration. 

Abstracts

The abstract submission portal is now closed. The selected abstracts will be offered to either present in Oral or Poster format. 


Dragon's Den Research Grant

The BRS can offer members funding towards research projects by way of a pump-priming grant. Grants are available on an annual basis and will be up to the value of £3000. As the BRS is a recognised partner of the NIHR, the successful research project will be automatically considered for inclusion on the NIHR National Portfolio when the ethics and R&D submission process is initiated.

Application forms will be considered by the BRS research group headed by Mr Neil Tan and the top 3 shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their research proposal in May 2024 at the BRS meeting in Cardiff.

Venue

The ENT UK BRS Annual Meeting & Juniors Day will be held face-to-face in the capital of Wales, Cardiff at the Parkgate Hotel, Westgate Street, Cardiff, CF10 1DA. 


Getting there

Please click here for the directions. 

The Parkgate Hotel is located on Westgate Street in the city of Cardiff, just a 10-minute walk from Cardiff Central railway station.  There are several bus stops nearby, the closest of which are around a 1 minute walk from the hotel.

Please note there is no drop-off or baggage drop area outside the hotel.

Cardiff is well connected and can be easily reached by road (M4 motorway) and rail (Cardiff Central Station) from all major UK cities, and also from many international and UK destinations direct by air via Cardiff Airport.  The T9 bus service offers a direct link from Cardiff Airport to Cardiff City Centre and the bus stop is located directly outside the airport terminal.


Car Parking

The Parkgate Hotel is located in the centre of Cardiff city, therefore we are unable to offer on-site parking or valet parking services. Thanks to its convenient location, there are a range of public transport options, as well as public car parks, within walking distance of the hotel.
