About the Event

The 2024 ENT UK Research Showcase Meeting will take place on 4 October at the Park Inn by Radisson in York. This event will showcase cutting-edge research in Otorhinolaryngology and feature distinguished academic speakers who will share valuable insights and updates. The first half of the program will be devoted to presentations from ENT UK’s Research Society (BOARS), with a variety of free papers and talks presenting the latest research developments in the field. The afternoon will feature the much-anticipated announcement of the ENT UK Foundation Grant Awards and the Research and Training Prizes in memory of Rowena Ryan.

The Research Showcase is a must-attend for anyone wanting to stay up to date with the latest research developments in Otorhinolaryngology, so make sure to register today to secure your place!

The British Otorhinolaryngology & Allied Sciences Research Society (BOARS) aims to create a platform for showcasing the best current research in ENT, Hearing & Balance in the UK, bringing together clinical researchers and discovery scientists of all disciplines, levels, and grades. BOARS' mission is to promote ENT research in the UK, enhance research education, and develop clinical academics in the specialty.

The ENT UK Foundation is the philanthropic and fundraising arm of ENT UK, dedicated to improving ENT healthcare by investing in the specialty and engaging with various stakeholders, including patients, clinicians, industry, charity partners, and technology innovators. The Foundation provides funding for a wide range of research and education grants in the themes of research and innovation, education, leadership, and environmental sustainability.

The Research and Training Prizes were set up in 2015 on Rowena Ryan’s 10th death anniversary. They recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in trainee and young consultant-led research, audits and training initiatives.

Rowena Ryan, a young consultant ENT surgeon at Northwick Park London, was a trainees’ champion and strong advocate for improving training and clinical practice standards. With various hats on in regional (TPD) and national roles (SAC), she provided support and mentorship for basic and higher surgical trainees. In her name, we celebrate ENT training and acknowledge the work, sacrifices and achievements of trainees and trainers alike.
