About the event - Women in Surgery and Digital Healthcare

WENTS (Women in ENT Surgery) are delighted to invite you to the first in their new 2025/26 webinar series on 'Women and Technology in Surgery'

With the recent RCS England data showing we are 60 years off achieving 50:50 gender ratios in surgical consultants, we believe peer-reviewed data and collaboration is more important than ever for women in surgery.

The first webinar is 'Women in Surgery and Digital Healthcare', which will take place at 7:30pm (UK time) on Monday 8th December 2025.

We welcome all genders to this event and it is free to attend, although advance registration is required.

Programme

Time: 7:30 - 8:30pm UK time

Digital healthcare has previously been cited by ENT UK as both an asset to excellent clinical care for ENT surgeons, and a barrier to efficient outpatient consultations. Evidence suggests that electronic patient records disproportionately increase administrative burden for women doctors; we discuss the pros and cons of digital healthcare for women surgeons, and how we can better shape these technologies for equity, inclusion, and best surgical practice.

Speakers for this webinar include:

  • Katherine Conroy, Co-Chair of WENTS UK and historian of surgical innovation
  • Tunde Oremule, NHS Digital Health Fellow and PhD in telemedicine and AI in healthcare
  • Jenny Chong, the Shuri Network - the first NHS and care network of women from minority and ethnic groups

Meet the speakers...

Tunde Oremule

Mr Tunde Oremule is an ENT surgeon, NHS Digital Health Fellow, and doctoral researcher specialising in telemedicine and the responsible deployment of AI in ENT pathways. His PhD examines how digital redesign and clinician-centred technology can improve access, reduce administrative burden, and support safe, efficient clinical decision-making. He has contributed to national NHS digital-health initiatives, developed AI-enabled tools for paediatric care, and works closely with clinicians, designers, and policy teams to promote equitable, inclusive innovation. Tunde speaks regularly on digital transformation in healthcare, clinical AI governance, and the future landscape of ENT surgery.
