Full-time vs part-time leadership — what's right for you?
Are you an ENT surgeon who has been given a leadership position, or are you considering applying for one? Do you know what is expected of you? Have you been given any preparation or training to do the job well?
From personal experience, we know the answer is probably no — after all, a medical degree and FRCS makes you a good leader, right?
At ENT UK we recognise that good leadership is more important than ever, and we are developing a series of webinars to help and support you.
This first webinar, "Should I Stay or Should I Go Now?", explores one of the fundamental questions facing surgeons considering leadership: do I want to be a full-time or part-time leader?
Our speakers are David Crampsey, previously an ENT surgeon and now CEO at the Royal Free Hospital in London; Fiona Myint, consultant vascular surgeon at the Royal Free and course director of the Surgical Leadership Programme at Harvard and RCS England; and Marie Lyons, consultant ENT surgeon and Responsible Officer at East and North Herts Teaching Hospital.
Together we will share how we got to where we are today — discussing full-time versus part-time leadership, the skills you need to develop, where to find support, and how to seek the feedback that helps you grow, which can become increasingly difficult as you become more senior.
