Junior Doctor Contract Statement

ENT UK would like to write on behalf of the trainees in our speciality and surgical training in general. We are in support of our colleagues and consider that the proposed contract is very detrimental (physically, financially and emotionally) to their quality of life. Such a contract would severely damage morale of trainees and jeopardise the future of the NHS. It could lead to a brain drain of the brightest and best of our surgical trainees. The detrimental effect of this would result in the closure of many hospital emergency services and adversely affect the quality of patient care. We urge you to critically review the proposed contract and look at ways to retain our trainees for the benefit of our patients.
