ENT UK appoints new General Manager

ENT UK is delighted to announce the appointment of its new General Manager Katie Nurcombe (pictured), who starts in the role in early January.  Katie brings a wealth of experience leading membership growth and transformational change.  Over her career she has led trade associations, membership organisations and public-private partnerships, and has worked in a variety of sectors including local growth, construction, skills and healthcare.  She has a passion for corporate social responsibility, and is an active champion of wellbeing as well as equality, diversity and inclusion.

Katie’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the award-winning professional membership body.  Following its launch in 2021, this coming year will see the ENT Foundation establish itself further as the philanthropic and fundraising arm of the organisation.  The ENT Foundation aims to create opportunities which support the growth and longevity of the specialty.  There will also be an interesting calendar of innovative and forward-thinking events, including many run by ENT UK’s groups and subspecialties. And we will continue to organise BACO International 2023, ensuring as ever that it fulfils its status as the UK’s preeminent ENT-related academic conference.

Andrew Swift, ENT UK President-elect said: “I wish to welcome Katie Nurcombe to ENT UK as our new General Manager.  Katie comes with a broad experience in business, governance, finance and equality, diversity and inclusion. Katie has a background in economics and her experience includes working at HM Treasury and in a range of interesting leadership roles which will add considerable value to the work of the organisation.

Katie will lead the association to support its members, invest in the specialty, facilitate global innovation and drive improvements in ENT for healthcare professionals and patients alike.  We all really look forward to working with her.”

Katie Nurcombe, ENT UK General Manager said: “I am very proud to join ENT UK at this important time.  It is even more of a privilege to be able to help provide the specialty with a voice as I have a personal connection to its mission.  My dad has had two complex and successful operations under the care of the head and neck cancer team at Guy’s Hospital and is now recovering well.

Julianne, the outgoing General Manager, has left the association on a solid footing which enables us to forge ahead with confidence on the vision to advance education, training and research in the field of otorhinolaryngology.  I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the surgeons and associated medical professionals in this field and I look forward to meeting the team, members, our partners and other stakeholders over the coming weeks and months.”
